With its superb geographic location right at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail hills, Beaumes de Venise is a village where life is good. Its many lovely features include country walks on which you can admire the many natural sites around the village, such as the "balmes" (meaning “caves” in Provençal) from which the place takes its name. Remains from the past

Remains from the past

Beaumes de Venise is also home to several remains from the past which make lovely places to walk :

The ruins of the 13th-century château offer an amazing panoramic view not to be missed!

The church of Notre-Dame d'Aubune is a building that bears witness to the Romanesque art of Provence in the 12th century. Go inside to discover its magnificent baroque-style altar and a painting from the 17th century recounting the plague epidemic that ravaged the village at that time.

Le Muscat doux

Le Muscat doux

What makes Beaumes de Venise special is its sloping hillsides which provide a wonderful amount of sunshine for the vines, transforming the muscat into a naturally mild wine unique to Provence.

This dessert wine is a particularly good accompaniment to a tasty French treat from the patisserie ;-)

Want to hone your cocktail-making skills? The Rhonéa winery organises cocktail-making workshops based around the muscat wine.

Le Domaine de Coyeux

Le Domaine de Coyeux

Situated high up on the outskirts of the town, the Domaine de Coyeux estate, in addition to offering eco-friendly wine-tasting and activities, enjoys an astonishing panoramic view with its sloping vines stretching towards the Dentelles de Montmirail mountains.

The Dentelles de Montmirail

The Dentelles de Montmirail

Between Beaumes de Venise, Vacqueyras, Gigondas and Lafare, lies this small, unique mountain chain.
It is made up of three lines of limestone formed and chiselled by erosion. Between each line, small secret valleys shelter the vineyards of the Côtes du Rhône appellation.

Many trails and paths allow access to the heart of these lands. Walk them in the springtime or even better when the autumn colours illuminate the vineyards.
