Set off to explore the sheepfolds (Jas) of Mont Ventoux on a 24-km (15-mile) hike with no shortage of ups and downs.

Hikes in the Dentelles de Montmirail
There are several possible routes for discovering this area of outstanding natural beauty, a true geological marvel of Provence.
The Tour des Dentelles route will take you on a circular 14-km (9-miles) route right around the Giant’s rocks.

Le Mur de la peste (The Plague Wall)
Follow the Plague Wall in the Luberon Regional Nature Park, a large dry-stone wall built between the Durance river and Mont Ventoux by order of the Pope in response to the Plague epidemic that arrived by boat at the port of Marseille. This line of defence was guarded by soldiers night and day, and it was forbidden for anyone to cross it.

Walk through the ochre fields
Provence has an abundance of natural ochre sites and former quarries. Numerous trails, tour routes and signposted hikes have been developed throughout the area.

The Gorges of the Toulourenc, hiking with your feet in the water!
The Toulourenc river starts as a mountain stream, and flows just behind the Ventoux into a natural trough of the same name, the Toulourenc Valley.
You can access it via Entrechaux or from Malaucène by following the minor road that passes close to Beaumont-du-Ventoux to reach the hamlet of Vaux.
Between the hamlet of Vaux and Saint-Léger-du-Ventoux, you will find gorges you can explore on foot. The are many spots along the course of the Toulourenc where you can enjoy the fresh, cool water.
